Five Decor Trends We Are Loving
Everywhere you look you’ll see old styles coming back, but with an eclectic twist. Mixing styles and materials is giving us a balanced way to love these trends without being overwhelmed by any specific one. You can find this balance by mixing old with new, cold and stark with warm and laid-back, or modern, clean lines with more traditional, ornate accents. It seems there’s a focus on creating rooms that feel nostalgic, welcoming, and lived in. Maybe we are all looking for comfort and familiarity after a year of uncertainty. Whatever the reason is, I’m here for it!
Vintage Art
If you’re wanting to add some character that tells a story, vintage oil paintings do just that. Whether it’s landscape, portrait, or still art, there’s so much charm and personality in these beautiful paintings. For unique contrast, mix them with modern line art.
Cane/Rattan Accents
This trend is everywhere! Cane and rattan are definitely 1970’s throwbacks and their versatility compliments almost every decor style. You can go all out with a furniture piece or keep it subtle with small accents such as a lampshade or cane-wrapped vase. Whatever you choose, I’m sure you’ll be obsessed like the rest of us!
Aged Vases and Lamps
It seems like a contradiction, but contrasting elements bring unity and balance to decor. The old world charm of aged vases, lamps, and planters bring charm to today’s modern living. This ain’t your grandma’s 1980’s curio cabinet! This is modern and sleek and plain gorgeous! Clean black lines are hot and aren’t going anywhere for a while. We are seeing them on windows, mirrors, and furniture. I love how the arch of this cabinet adds a bit of elegance. This could possibly be the prettiest way to display your decor. These cabinets might even make your ugliest books, art, baskets, or barware look beautiful! It’s worth a try!
Fluted Accents
Another relic from decades past is fluted accents. This is a trend you can go big with or keep subtle. We are seeing it make a statement on large pieces like coffee tables, islands, and walls. We are also seeing just a touch of it on stools, candle holders, and vases. And it doesn’t stop with wood. Fluted glass windows and doors are making an appearance too! I love the quiet texture it adds to a room.
