Spring Refresh of Your Home and Products

Oh Hello Spring!! We have been waiting for you!! It’s time to open up the windows and let the fresh air in. I just adore Spring and I love a good Spring Cleaning!! There’s nothing better than clearing out the clutter, organizing and doing a deep clean of our home. It can also be very therapeutic. Here are some simple ways you can embrace Spring and bring in cleaner healthier products into your home.

Start with Decluttering. Doing a big purge of your home each Spring is always a good idea. I like to hit up all the closets, drawers, cupboards and the dreaded garage! Spring is a great time to get those donation bins handy! A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t used or thought about an item for six months or more and it holds no sentimental value, then its got to go. Closets are always a great place to start.

Refresh Your Bedding. Do you like to switch out your bedding with each new season? I do!! Refreshing your bedding can switch up and change up a whole room. I like to always keep pillow covers and duvet covers on hand. For spring I like to bring in muted colors and florals. You will be amazed how new bedding can make you feel.

Give your cleaning products a refresh. Spring is a great time to revaluate what products you are using in your home. Ditch the harsh chemicals & toxic cleaning products, they are not only harmful to your body when they get on your skin or into your lungs, but they are no good for your mood. Of course it’s no fun to clean with them! By switching to all natural, plant based cleaners, your home will not only be sparkling clean, but will also smell good! We love the Thieves line by Young Living One bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner concentrate makes up to 30 spray bottles of cleaner, that’s one for your kitchen, one in each bathroom, in your laundry room and plenty leftover!! It is also the best for making DIYs like soft scrub, carpet or furniture cleaner and glass cleaner, it does it all!! I put together some great Young Living Bundles too.

Bring in some greenery. Adding some fresh or faux greenery and flowers is a great way to make your home feel more like Spring. Plants can not only freshen the air in your home, they can also improve your mood. But of course not all plants and flowers have to be real. I like to have a mix of both in my home.

Ditch the Candles and Synthetic Air fresheners. We all want our home to smell good, but we don’t want to bring toxins into our home. Most candles are made of paraffin wax (a petroleum waste product that is chemically bleached), which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene (both are known carcinogens) when burned. … As candles burn, phthalates are released into the air where they may be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Many air fresheners rely on aerosols, which have been shown to release high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in households at use them. These VOCs can produce ground-level ozone in the home, which is hazardous. But don’t despair, you can still have your home smelling well and toxin free!! Just start diffusing all natural essential oils instead. You can make  your own custom blends too!

Rearrange some furniture and decor. After you have decluttered and done a deep cleaning of your home, hopefully with non toxic natural products, it’s a great time to shop your home and rearrange some furniture. Simply moving one item from one area of a room to another, can make the whole space look and feel new.
