5 Ways To Spruce Up Your Laundry Room

|

Hello and welcome to the blog!! With all this time we are spending at home, it’s a great time to spruce up some areas! I thought today we would start with a room we all spend a lot of time in, but don’t give much time or thought about design. It’s the laundry room! Laundry rooms don’t need to be dark unwelcoming spaces. Since we spend so much time in this space, why not brighten it up and make it a little more functional.

Add A Rug

The first decor piece all laundry rooms need are rugs!! Rugs are a great way to add softness, texture and color. I always love to have a rug in front of the washer and dryer. Since we spend so much time standing there loading and unloading laundry daily, why not add a little softness under foot!  The layout and size of your laundry room will determine the size of rug. For longer laundry rooms I like I to do one runner and for smaller rooms I like to use 2×3 or 3×5 rugs. Here are some rug options for your laundry room.

Add Baskets

Another great way to spruce up your laundry room and also make it more functional is baskets!! You know how much I love baskets and how functional I think they are. So it’s no wonder that I think your laundry room should have them! In my mudroom area I have several baskets that hold odds and ends.

I also use a basket to hold my dryer lint trash. This is a great way to disguise the trash can! You can also use a cute lint bin, but I prefer a basket.

In my laundry room I also have a donation basket. I keep it on the counter and add items and clothes to it through out the week that need to be donated. Then once a week or so I take the items to my local Good Will. Its a great way to help stay organized and to purge items! I linked some baskets that could work in your laundry room below.

Add Cute Hampers

I also like to use baskets as laundry hampers in the laundry room. A basket looks much more stylish than a plastic hamper, and just as functional. You can leave the basket on the floor or on top of the dryer. I prefer a basket with handles to be my laundry basket. Here are some baskets and hampers.

Add Decor Accessories

No laundry room is complete without decor accessories! Who says you can’t have cute decor pieces in the laundry room…not me! If you have a sink in your laundry room, you can add cute soaps, trays, towels and scrub brushes! If you have shelves in your laundry room you can add crocks or jugs that will also serve as storage.

Cute laundry powder bins are great functional decor pieces for the laundry room. You can also use glass jars and add bars of laundry soap or clothes pins. I love having cute scrub brushes out on display. They come in handy and look cute!! Have included some cute laundry room decor pieces below.

Add Wall Decor

And of course we cannot forget about the walls! Every laundry room deserves some wall decor! I love these prints that I found on Etsy. They are not only cute, but give you valuable information. They tie in nicely with any laundry room.

I also like using cute laundry signs. I think they look so cute in any laundry room. Etsy has a great selection as well as craft stores like Michaels and JoAnns. You can also add hanging baskets to the wall. They can hold items too, making them functional decor.

Wall art is also a great way to add a little pop of color into the laundry room. I love using colorful wall art and botanicals in laundry rooms. Another great way to add some color into your laundry room is the cabinet and wall colors. I painted my laundry room cabinets Cape May Cobblestone by Benjamin Moore. The walls are are Extra White by Sherwin Williams.

Wall hooks also make for Great Wall decor that is also functional. In our previous laundry room I added these cute numbered wall hooks. They held the kids backpacks and I also hung clothes on them to dry! Below I sourced some cute laundry room wall decor pieces.

Laundry Essentials

Ok this is a little bonus section. I have included all my laundry room essentials and must haves. Like this drying rack for example. It is the best drying rack I have owned and hasn’t fallen apart!
