Kitchen Tour

Hello and thanks for stopping by the blog!! I have recently gotten a lot of questions about my kitchen so I thought I would do a blog post all about my kitchen! This way you can have all my sources in one place and linked. We remodeled our kitchen about two years ago. By remodeled I mean we completely gutted it! My cousin custom built all my cabinets and we painted them Simply White by Benjamin Moore. My island size is 9ft x 6ft, it’s huge, but I’m so glad it is!

The number one question I get about my kitchen is what my countertops are. The countertops are called Super White Quartzite. I absolutely love them! They have a similar look and coloring of marble, but without all the maintenance and worry. Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which was originally pure quartz sandstone. Sandstone is converted into quartzite through heating and pressure usually related to tectonic compression within orogenic belts. It’s a very dense hard product that requires little to no maintenance. The difference between Quartz and Quartzite is that Quartz is man made and Quartzite is a natural product.

The Super White Quartzite we found has a lot of veining. I have seen other Super White Quartzite that doesn’t have as much coloring and veining. I do actually wish mine had less coloring, but I also like all the coloring because it hides any messes on it like spilled drinks lol!!

The second most asked question is where my Counterstools are from. The Counter stools are Essentials For Living. They are super comfy and super stylish. The seats are fabric and not removable. They do wipe easily though. The Counterstools are very well made. You can read more about my Counterstools here.

The Loom Counterstools come in the Platinum gray I have and a beige color. They have become my favorite part of the kitchen!

We installed hardwood floors throughout the house when we remodeled. Thankfully my Uncle installs hardwood floors for a living. I went with Oak floors by Pacific Beach. The planks are 7 1/2 inches wide and varying lengths. It is Pre finished Wired Scraped Engineered Oak, natural no stain, with an oil finish. I love the hardwood floors and have been very happy with these floors.

My pendant lights are the Harmon Pendant Lights from Restoration Hardware in Antiqued Brass. I got the pendants in the largest size which is 19 inches in diameter. I wanted to have two statement lights and these definitely are statement lights! Here is a similar pendant at a better price point. My rug is from Revival Rugs.

My refrigerator is Sub Zero. It is the 48 inch size. I love this fridge so very much! I call it the Cadillac of fridges. Sub Zero will last you 30 years or more if you take care of it! It is definitely an investment, but I plan on keeping this baby for forever! My Double ovens are Thermador Professional Series. I love the look of Thermador and I have a couple family members who have Thermador appliances and have had them for years, so I knew they were good quality.

The Sub Zero Refrigerator is nice and roomy and has soft close drawers!!

My Gas Range top is also Thermador Professional Series and is the 36 inch with a griddle. I had a griddle in our previous home and loved it, so I knew I wanted one again. My Hood is also 36 inches and Theremador Professional Series. The hood is very powerful!! We also added a Pot filler when we remodeled. I use it every time I have to fill a pot with water. It has been very handy.

When we were remodeling I had a tough time picking out a backsplash. I had tried several samples but just didn’t love anything. I had bought this Merola Tile called Braga Classic for my guest bathroom floor. I stuck a couple pieces up on the counter in the kitchen and fell in love!! It gave my kitchen a nice pop and focal wall! Here’s a little secret though….the backsplash may look different soon!

I went with a beautiful 36 inch white Farm Sink or Arpon Sink by Kohler. It’s nice and large and can hold a lot of dirty dishes! I installed Delta Faucets in Champagne Bronze. It’s the prettiest bronze color. My dishwasher is a Bosch. That is the only brand of dishwasher I will buy! My previous Bosch dishwasher lasted over 10 years with no problems!

When I was designing my island I knew I wanted a drawer microwave. I din’t want my microwave on display. I love that it is somewhat hidden. I went with a Gaggenau drawer microwave. I also knew I wanted my paper towels accessible but hidden. So my cousin built a cubby for my paper towels in the island. It’s nice and deep too so I can store 3 paper towel rolls in there!

Off to the side of the kitchen I have a little eat in area. It’s nice having this space. I added this cute Table from West Elm and recently added these Cross Back Chairs from Poly and Bark. Rug

When designing the kitchen with my cousin, I knew I wanted to have a desk area for myself. Basically a mom hub!! I spend a lot of my time here, so I am very glad we made room for this space. I also am glad I added this Emily and Meritt floral chair. It’s cute and ties into my kitchen perfectly. Mail Holder, Dog Date Holder

We also added two lights above the windows when we were remodeling. My poor cousin had to shimmy inside the attic to wire these lights! Needless to say he was not very happy about it! But it was worth it in my opinion. The lights added the modern farmhouse look I love, plus these WestingHouse Lights are at a great price point! Window Shades

I was also recently asked to share what I have on my kitchen counters, so here you go! This corner is sort of my appliance hub. It’s where we keep my favorite All Clad Toaster and Nespresso Espresso Machine , which has become a family favorite. My family members show up at my hose just for the Nespresso. Keurig Machine. Here is the link to my Favorite Crockpot, and Here is a link to my favorite Air Fryer. Both are must haves in my opinion!

Letter Board, Cake Stand

Kitchen Aid mixer, Pour Over Coffee Maker, Similar Owl Cookie Jar, Wusthof Knives

I thought I would finish off with look back at what the kitchen looked like when we purchased the home. Can you say orange! I honestly don’t remember what the kitchen looked like because it was one of the first areas we gutted when we remodeled the home. The cabinets actually ended where you see them here. Then it was just wasted space. That’s where we added the desk area. We also added a sink on the perimeter so I had a window to look out while I washed dishes. If you want to see all we did when we remodeled our home I have a post all about it here. Sorry for the quality of these photos they are off the Internet.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and learn a little more about my kitchen! Here are the stools I had in the kitchen before I got my new ones. I actually really love these counter stools from World Market. Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below. Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a post!

  1. Good blog! I truly love how it is simple on my eyes and the data are well written. I am wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your RSS feed which must do the trick! Have a great day!

  2. Wow, your kitchen is stunning! Love the neutral and earthy tones and your huge island is amazing. It’s also incredible how you’ve managed to include a working corner for yourself and blend it to look so natural, although it’s actually in the kitchen. Very clever idea! I’m head over hills for every single detail and corner of your kitchen. 🙂
