Guest Room Refresh With AllModern

Hello!! Thank you for stopping my blog and reading about my Guest Room Refresh With AllModern. I thought it seemed appropriate to first share what the room looked before the refresh. It wasn’t bad, but I wanted to change up the style a bit. I love this Iron bed that’s why I bought three when we first moved into this house! I figured it was a little over kill with all the iron beds and I knew I wanted to change it to one with wood. Plus adding a wood bed frame into the space would really warm it and go better with my rug that my mom and I found at a thrift store brand new!! I found that super cute white nightstand at Homegoods many years ago and searched and searched for a second one, with no luck! I always disliked how the nightstands didn’t match. I felt like this room had become the dumping room. It was kind of the space that I put furniture that I didn’t know what to do with. I wanted it to look more cohesive and put together.

The first thing I like to do when designing a space is make a mood board. I like to use Morpholio to make my boards. It’s very user friendly. Of course I headed to AllModern’s website to look for furniture pieces! They have a great selection and great prices and hassle free returns! While looking for beds I found this Parocela Panel bed and fell in love! Then I saw the matching nightstands and knew I was on to something! I took a picture of my existing rug and added it to my board to see if the bed would look good. This is why I love creating mood boards first. It helps you visualize the space.

So once I had I my furniture picked out and a design in mind, it was time to paint! I had painted my den Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore and loved it, so I decided to paint the guest room the same. It’s a great bright white, and a true white, no undertones. It is bright though so if you want a more mellow white this may not be the white for you.

I am always amazed by the power of paint. It can just completely transform a space and it’s cost effective which is great. I feel like the white on the walls actually complemented my rug better than the Porous Stone I previously had on the walls. You can see the Swiss coffee on the ceiling and can see how much more of pure white Chantilly Lace is.

When painting you need certain things in my opinion. A good angle paint brush, floor cover, An Echo Dot to play music and a small paint roller. I prefer the small paint roller over the big one. The big one gives my arms too much fatigue. Plus the small roller is easier to get closer to the trim.

Once I had the room all painted it was time to put in all the pretty furniture! Thankfully AllModern delivers your furniture boxes inside your home, so that made it easier for me to take out the pieces and put them in the room. Plus AllModern always ships fast, which is perfect for an impatient person like myself!  I have to say that this Parocela Panel Bed is extremely well made and great quality. I actually put the bed together by myself and it wasn’t that bad. It was actually fairly easy! I chose the Acorn color but the bed is also available in white.

How cute is the Parocela Nightstand! I love it! The nightstands were the perfect size for the space too. They have nice deep drawers which make them not only cute, but also practical. I think my favorite part are the mid mod legs on it, and the fact that they arrived already put together! Once again I can attest to the quality of the Parocela line. It is made of real solid wood and beautifully constructed. The nightstands can come in two colors Acorn which is the color I have or White.

At first I was a little nervous about the nightstands and bed matching, usually I’m not a big fan your bed and nightstands matching, but I think this set goes very well together. The nightstands are a good scale and so is the headboard so nothing is too overwhelming. Plus once I added the pillows to my bed it helped break it all up. The other thing that drew me to the Parocela bed was the frame. I like that it doesn’t have a large footboard and that the frame runs all around the bed. I have a low profile box spring on the bed. I think a regular box spring would probably work well too, but you will be able to see it under the mattress.

I wasn’t quit sure what I wanted above the bed. Previously I had a Juju hat which I loved, but I actually loved it a little more above my bed in my master bedroom. I found this cool round medallion at Homegoods. I found a really similar one here and at a great price. I already had the round baskets in this room I just moved them to a new location. I purchased those two lamps at World Market and the shades there as well. Similar Rug

One thing I always wanted in this room was a chair! I thought it would be great for guest to be able to sit in here and read or be on their laptop. I chose this Cicero Street Arm Chair from AllModern. It’s a great grey color and the fabric is nice and thick so I know it will be durable. The best part besides the looks of it is that all I had to do is screw on the legs!  Plus it’s a great price so it’s a win in my book! AllModern has a large selection of accent chairs like this. The hardest part of buying from AllModern will be deciding which cute piece of furniture to buy! See that blanket ladder? It can expand and reduce in width! So if you have larger quilts or blankets you can expand it and if you have thinner smaller ones you can reduce the width! I really like that it has it has two tones too. I have so many throw blankets I figure I might as well display them lol! Pillow

The room actually feels a lot bigger now even though I added that sitting area. I think it has to do with the  bed not having a big footboard like the previous bed. The room has more of a laid back coastal vibe which is what I was going for. I actually love going into this room now. It feels put together and not just a dumping ground. The best part about design in my opinion is having an idea in your head and then making it come to life!
